Title: Celebrating Disability Cultural Awareness Month

Georgetown celebrates Disability Cultural Month each October alongside the federally-recognized National Disability Employment Awareness Month, highlighting the many and varied contributions of people with disabilities to our university community and to society at large.

People with disabilities belong to a diverse range of communities and backgrounds, and have been organizing for equal rights, access, inclusion and opportunity for decades. As a Catholic, Jesuit university, our community affirms the inherent dignity of all individuals.

We invite you to explore our Celebrating Disability Pride, Communities and Culture at Georgetown landing page to learn more about the academic programs, scholarship, faculty, students, staff and alumni committed to celebrating and advocating for individuals with disabilities.

We also invite you to join for the range of events planned for Disability Cultural Month, including opportunities hosted by the recently launched Disability Cultural Center. The center is hosting a number of events celebrating our vibrant disability community on campus, including Chaplain’s Tea and an art exhibit in Lauinger Library showcasing student artwork that recognizes disability culture and community at Georgetown.

Thank you for joining us in celebrating Disability Cultural Month at Georgetown.
