Overview
Georgetown is deeply committed to ensuring all employees are compensated for the work they perform. The university’s policies on work hours and pay practices (Section 800 of the Human Resources Policy Manual) and Just Employment Policy reflect this core commitment. Hourly employees are responsible for recording all time worked, and their managers are required to review time reports and confirm that they are accurate and include all time worked.
Upon being contacted by the DC Office of the Attorney General, Georgetown fully cooperated with an investigation into reports that certain hourly staff employees in research lab settings at the Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) worked time that was not reflected on the timesheets submitted to the university (“off the clock” work). The university reached an agreement to resolve this matter and will compensate GUMC and GSAS hourly staff employees who were employed during the pandemic between March 1, 2020 – June 13, 2023 and who worked time that was not reflected on their timesheets through a claims procedure. The university has also developed training to enhance awareness of our time reporting policies and procedures and ensure employees understand how to appropriately enter time into the Georgetown Management System.
Claims Process
Georgetown has retained Analytics Consulting LLC, a third party claims administrator, to process claims under the settlement. The administrator will issue a notice by mail and email to eligible Georgetown employees in the weeks ahead. This notice will provide detailed information on how claims will be processed and provide contact information for any additional questions. It is anticipated that the claims process will be completed within 6 months.
Back to TopTime Tracking Training and Resources
