Title: Work Mode Designations – Academic Year 2021-22

Dear Colleagues,

Today staff and AAP employees will receive their official mode of work designation for the upcoming academic year. This email will be signed by the Executive Vice Presidents and the Chief Operating Officer and will originate from GMS (georgetown@myworkday.com), so please be sure to check your email inbox for any message from this address.

I am grateful to all the managers and business unit leaders across the University who thoughtfully considered the best approach for their areas as our community of students, staff and faculty return to our campuses this fall. Their recommendations were reviewed and approved by the EVP/COO of their campus.

As we enter Phase I of our Return to Campus plan for the 2021-22 academic year, we will all need to be patient and flexible. We expect to learn a lot in the coming year about how to evolve as a workplace while delivering our mission and maintaining a strong community. We will plan to regularly review how our return to campus is proceeding, and adjust our practices as necessary based on what we experience.

All staff and AAP employees will receive one of the following mode of work designations:

On Campus: Employees will work on campus during all of their regularly scheduled work days. Employees with this designation who have not already been on campus regularly should discuss with their manager the date they are expected to return to campus.

Hybrid: Employees will work on campus a set number of days each week and telework on other days. Employees should discuss their schedule with their manager and identify the specific days they will report to their campus work location. Hybrid employees may be required to come to campus intermittently on their scheduled telework days to support unit operations at times of increased demand, as determined by their manager.

Telework: Employees will telework full-time, though they may need to come to campus intermittently. Employees with this designation will receive a link in their email today to complete a brief questionnaire in GMS. Once the questionnaire has been completed and reviewed, a telework agreement will be delivered to the employee’s GMS inbox for their review and acknowledgement. Acknowledgements must be received by July 30, 2021.

Once received, any questions regarding mode of work designations should be directed to your supervisor or HR Client Services Partner. For those employees designated as “on-campus” or “hybrid,” we ask that managers work with their employees to discuss the specifics of their schedule and the date of return to campus, if the employee has primarily worked remotely over the past year. More detailed information about mode of work designations, upcoming training, return to campus support, resources and FAQs can be found on the Return to Campus webpage. I encourage you to bookmark this page and check back often as our Human Resources team will be updating it regularly.

Please remember that Georgetown University requires employees who will be accessing our campuses to be fully vaccinated and submit proof of vaccination through the GU360 mobile app or GU360 website by Monday, August 9, 2021. Employees can email covidcarenavigator@georgetown.edu for guidance on scheduling an appointment and receiving a deadline extension, if needed. Faculty and staff members can get vaccinated for free by signing up for an on-campus vaccination appointment or by going to a nearby vaccination clinic. Answers to vaccination questions can be found in this FAQ, including how to load your vaccination record into GU360 and how to request a medical or religious exemption. Additional guidance to help ensure our health and safety as a community is forthcoming.

Thank you to all our staff, AAPs and faculty as our community has navigated through tremendous change over the past 18 months. Your patience, cooperation and kindness will help us move through this next chapter and ensure our continued and shared success.

Sincerely,

Anthony Kinslow
Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer
