Dear Students,
Thanksgiving break takes place starting Wednesday, Nov. 22, with classes resuming on Monday, Nov. 27. Please review the following important reminders and opportunities related to Thanksgiving break.
Reminders for Students Departing Campus
Thanksgiving Break Transportation Options
- Airport “Turkey” Shuttles are offered to Reagan National Airport (DCA) and Dulles International Airport (IAD) from the Georgetown Bus Turnaround on Tuesday, Nov. 21, and Wednesday, Nov. 22. Return shuttles are offered on Sunday, Nov. 26. Advance sign-up is not required.
- There are also GUTS-to-public transit options to DCA/IAD and Union Station, including:
- Rosslyn GUTS Route: GUTS drops off at Metro Blue line to DCA and Silver line to IAD.
- Law Center GUTS Route and Downtown Route: GUTS drops off a few blocks from Union Station.
- Dupont Circle GUTS Route: GUTS drops off near Metro Red Line to Union Station.
- Georgetown-Union Station Circulator Route: There are multiple pickup locations along Wisconsin Avenue NW to Union Station for $1.
On and Off-Campus Housing
If you are departing from your on-campus housing for break, be sure to:
- Close and secure all windows;
- Place all perishable items in sealed containers;
- Dispose of any trash;
- Turn off any alarm clocks and appliances that may make noise while you are away; and,
- Lock your door upon departure.
If you are departing from your off-campus housing for break, be sure to:
- Lock all of your doors and windows and close your curtains or blinds before you leave;
- Put trash and recycling bins in their proper storage locations and take any trash to a centralized trash location before the break;
- Turn your heat down, but not off — pipes can freeze and burst if the temperatures dip and there is no heat in your home; and,
- Turn off any alarm clocks and appliances that may make noise while you are away.
Reminders for Students Remaining on Campus
Campus Dining Hours
- You can view a schedule of campus dining hours from Nov. 21-27 here. Epicurean will be open to all members of the community from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. from Thursday, Nov. 23, to Sunday, Nov. 26. Students can use Meal Plan swipes at Epicurean during this period.
- All students remaining local for the Thanksgiving break are invited to the President’s Thanksgiving Dinner on Wednesday, Nov. 22, from 4-7 p.m., in the Healey Family Student Center. Please register using this link.
On-Campus Housing Reminders
All residential buildings on the Hilltop and Capitol campuses remain open during Thanksgiving break.
The Harbin Key Room, serving the Hilltop Campus, will have adjusted operating hours over the following days.
- Thursday, Nov. 23: Closed
- Friday, Nov. 24: 1-10 p.m.
- Saturday, Nov. 25: 1-10 p.m.
- Please note, regular hours are 8 a.m.-10 p.m. daily
For lockout assistance when the Harbin Key Room is closed, please contact GUPD (202- 687-4343) and ask to be transferred to the Community Director on duty.
Residents at 55H St should contact the front desk team and/or the Resident Fellow on duty with access issues.
Campus Recreation Hours
Campus Recreation will operate on adjusted hours in observance of Thanksgiving Break. Normal Campus Recreation Hours will resume on Monday, Nov. 27.
- Wednesday, Nov. 22:
- Yates Main Floor & Kehoe Field: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- McCarthy Pool: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m
- Membership Office: Closed
- Thursday, Nov. 23 – Sunday, Nov. 26: All facilities closed
UIS Service Desk Hours
The UIS service desk will have adjusted operating hours over the following days.
- Thursday, Nov. 23: Closed
- Friday, Nov. 24: Closed
Campus Safety
In the case of an emergency, on-campus students should contact the Georgetown University Police Department (GUPD) at 202-687-4343. Off-campus students should contact 9-1-1. GERMS will be out of service from 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26.

Well-Being Over Break
The holidays and finals season can be a challenging time for some members of our community. All Georgetown students have access to a range of mental and emotional well-being resources, including 24/7/365 telemental health services via HoyaWell. Public Health Reminders
If you haven’t done so already, please consider getting a flu vaccine prior to going home for Thanksgiving and get the updated COVID-19 vaccine.
