Title: Summer 2022 Campus Operations and Hours

Dear Members of the Georgetown University Community,

During the summer months, there are several adjustments to operations on campus to reflect the change in campus population. We hope that this message provides a helpful overview for navigating these updated summer operations.

Campus Dining

Hoya Hospitality locations have varied hours of operation throughout the summer.  Please visit www.hoyaeats.com for current hours. The Table@Leos (Leo O’Donovan Hall) will reopen for summer dining on Sunday, June 5.

The Corp’s (Georgetown University’s student-run non-profit) food, coffee and convenience store locations (Hoya Snaxa, MUG, Hilltoss and Vital Vittles) will reopen with summer hours on Monday, June 6.

COVID-19 Testing Hours and Policies

COVID-19 PCR testing will continue to be offered at the Leavey Conference Center during the following summer hours:

  • Monday: 7 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.; 1:30 – 4 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.; 1:30 – 4 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.; 1:30 – 4 p.m.
  • Thursday: 7 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.; 1:30 – 4 p.m.
  • Friday: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Testing for employees’ children under the age of 5 will continued to be offered, with the following hours:

  • Monday: 8 – 10 a.m.
  • Wednesday: 9 – 11 a.m.

At this time, masking is still required indoors on the Main and Medical Center campuses, and our Event & Visitor guidelines remain in effect.

GUTS

During the summer, the last Law Center GUTS shuttle departs from Main Campus at 6:08 p.m. and returns from the Law Center at 6:35 p.m. All other GUTS routes will continue to operate on their normal schedules.

Georgetown University Bookstore

Summer hours are in effect for the Georgetown University bookstore beginning Monday, June 6:

  • Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Saturday – Sunday: 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

UIS Service Desk 

Summer hours are in effect for the UIS service desk in the Leavey Center Bookstore beginning Monday, June 6:

  • Monday to Thursday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Friday: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Agents will also be available for assistance by contacting the UIS Service Center or by email during the following hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Friday: 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

On-call emergency technology services will be available after hours.

Mail Services

The Leavey Mail & Package Center continues its normal hours during the summer, open 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Libraries

Library services summer hours are in effect and can be viewed on the Georgetown University Library website.

  • Lauinger Library building: Sunday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–midnight; Friday–Saturday, 8 a.m.–10 p.m.
  • Lauinger Circulation Desk: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–6 p.m.; Saturday–Sunday, noon–6 p.m. Weekend hours are available from June 6–August 12 only.
  • Reference Desk: Monday–Thursday: noon–4 p.m. Service will be available by chat Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
  • Booth Family Center for Special Collections: Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
  • Maker Hub and Woodstock Theological Library: By appointment only
  • Bioethics Research Library: Monday–Friday, 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
  • Blommer Science Library: Monday–Friday, noon–5 p.m. (June 6–August 12 only).
  • School of Continuing Studies Library: Monday–Thursday, 3 p.m.–5 p.m.

Dahlgren Memorial Library summer hours go into effect on Friday, June 10, and can be found on the library website.

Student Health Services

Summer hours are in effect for the Student Health Center:

  • Monday, Wednesday – Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday: Closed

Summer hours are also in effect for Counseling and Psychiatric Service (CAPS):

  • Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Campus Recreation

Summer hours are in effect for Yates Field House and Kehoe Field through August 22, 2022:

Yates Main Floor & Kehoe Field

  • Monday – Friday: 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.

McCarthy Pool

Membership Office

  • Monday – Saturday: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Sunday: Closed

Campus Summer Construction Updates & Projects

Campus Lighting Upgrade: A campus-wide initiative is underway to replace existing light bulbs and fixtures with energy-efficient LED lights. Work will be ongoing throughout the summer and fall in residence halls and academic buildings on the Main Campus and Medical Center. Any impacts will be communicated to building occupants (contact Liz King, ek871@georgetown.edu, with any questions).

MedStar Medical/Surgical Pavilion update:  Construction on the new Medical/Surgical Pavilion and work on the surrounding grounds will continue throughout this summer. Construction at “Lot A” (parallel to Darnall Hall) is closed-in and interior construction is proceeding. Construction at “Lot B” (across from St. Mary’s Hall and along Reservoir Rd.) continues as the underground garage is being constructed. Construction impacts will continue to be communicated ahead of any disruptive work (contact Alex Burley, adb138@georgetown.edu, with any questions).

Cooper Field Steam Line Replacement: Approximately 340 feet of buried steam and condensate pipes along the southern edge of Cooper Field and into Tondorf Road will be removed and replaced this summer to reduce leakage and improve efficiency. Traffic impacts to Tondorf Road will be communicated ahead of any closures (contact Carla Tiberi, cst40@georgetown.edu, with any questions).
