Title: Proposed Elimination of G2 Metrobus Route: Submit Comments by March 5

Dear Members of the Georgetown Community,

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) recently announced its proposed changes to Metrobus and Metrorail service for fiscal year 2025, which may impact your access to Georgetown University’s Hilltop campus via public transit.

We encourage you to review the proposed service changes and maps of proposed service cuts to learn how it might impact you and our Georgetown community. For example, the proposal would completely eliminate the existing direct G2 Metrobus route to the University’s front gates at 3700 O St. NW and to Car Barn. No alternative service would be available to existing G2 bus stops in the Georgetown neighborhood. The proposal also includes eliminating the D2 and D6 Metrobus route, and combining the 31 and 33 into one route.

We encourage all community members who are concerned about accessible public transit access to the Hilltop campus to complete a survey or submit a comment on the G2 route and other routes of interest by March 5.

We encourage you to both provide your own direct feedback and share with other interested parties. The Georgetown community has previously been effective in shaping WMATA’s proposed changes to Metrobus routes in 2020, 2021, and 2023 through submission of public comments.

If you have any questions, please email communityengagement@georgetown.edu.

Thank you for your attention to this important community matter.

Sincerely,

Cory Peterson

Associate Vice President of Community Engagement and Local Government Affairs
