Title: New Back-Up Child, Adult and Elder Care Benefit Available

Dear Members of the Georgetown Community,

We are excited to announce that benefits-eligible faculty and staff now have access to back-up child, adult and elder care through Bright Horizons.

Under this new benefit, faculty and staff can receive up to seven days of Bright Horizons Back-Up Care per year at no cost. This benefit provides high-quality child care in a center or care in their home for a child or adult/elder relative. This care can be used for a range of situations, such as your child’s daycare or school closing unexpectedly, a regular caregiver being unavailable, an elderly parent needing additional support in their home or yours and more.

You can access your back-up care benefit by registering for an account on the Bright Horizons Back-Up Care website:

  1. Click on the “Register” button (as opposed to the “Sign In” button) during your first visit to the website.
  2. After clicking “Register”, you will be taken to a new page. When prompted, enter Georgetown as Employer Username and Benefits4You as Employer Password.
  3. As part of the registration process, you will be asked to enter your nine-digit GUID to confirm your eligibility for the benefit.

Additionally, faculty and staff continue to have access to Bright Horizons “Enhanced Family Supports”, such as preferential waitlist status at Bright Horizons childcare centers, tuition discounts at their partner centers, Sittercity’s database of sitters, a discounted local placement service to find trained, screened nannies and more. You can explore all of the available Bright Horizons benefits available to eligible faculty and staff on the Georgetown Bright Horizons client page.

Special thanks are due to the Family Care Working Group for their thoughtful input on the complex issues that employees face balancing the demands of work, home and family. Their suggestions, along with feedback from our community, have made it clear that access to back-up care will be a valuable addition to our benefit offerings.

If you have questions regarding this benefit or the other faculty and staff benefits available to you, please visit the Office of Faculty and Staff Benefits website or contact benefitshelp@georgtown.edu.
