Title: Fall 2020 Student Health Information and Immunization Requirements

Dear Students,

As we look ahead to the Fall 2020 semester, I am writing to remind you of student health resources available to you regardless of where you are studying in the Fall and provide more information about how to submit required immunization documentation.

Know Your Student Health Resources

The Student Health Center is staffed by primary care physicians and nurse practitioners with particular training and experience in college health. Student Health Center staff are dedicated to providing high-quality health care to the students of Georgetown University. During the Fall 2020 semester, the Student Health Center will offer both in-person and virtual visits for students in the DC area and will offer virtual services to students living outside of the DC area (as allowed based on location and licensing regulations).

Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) and Health Education Services (HES) no longer offer physical access but continue to offer virtual services to students. These virtual appointments allow you to check in with a clinician using secure video platforms. The consultations will offer you the ability to ask questions, get connected to needed resources, provide guidance about next steps during these difficult times, and thus begin the helping process.

Required: Submit Your Immunization and Tuberculosis Documentation

Pursuant to DC law and CDC recommendations, all students are required to submit information regarding their immunization and/or tuberculosis screening status upon matriculation. If you are an incoming student and you have not already submitted your immunization information, please do so by September 1, even if you are studying virtually during the Fall 2020 semester.

You can submit this information to the Georgetown Student Immunization Portal, which is accessed through single sign-on with your Georgetown NetID and password. Specific requirements and instructions are found within the portal.

A spring 2021 registration hold may result if all requirements are not met by September 1. If you have any difficulty submitting your information or have any questions regarding this process, please see the Student Health Center’s immunization page and frequently asked questions. Please submit any information or records that you do have as soon as possible.

You can contact the Student Health Center staff by sending a secure message within the immunization portal. If you have specific requirements or documentation that is missing, staff can assist you through messaging in the portal to clarify which requirements may be outstanding and schedule you to receive these at the Student Health Center once you arrive on campus.

Optional: Submit Your MedStar Health Registration Form

In order to facilitate your care and sign you up for our patient portal, please consider registering as a Student Health Center patient prior to your arrival on campus. A patient registration form for MedStar Health and the Student Health Center is also available in the immunization portal. This will simplify communications and arrangements about your health care.

Importance of Flu Shots This Fall

While the flu shot cannot protect from COVID-19, we recommend that all members of the Georgetown community be vaccinated for influenza. For students in the DC area, flu shots will be available at locations on or near campus. You can also check with your local pharmacy and physician’s office.

As Georgetown continues to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, our top priority remains the health and safety of our community. Though many of us may not physically return to campus this Fall, there are still plenty of resources and opportunities to help keep each other safe.

Best,

Dr. Ranit Mishori
Interim Chief Public Health Officer
