As a member of the Class of 2002, I know what it’s like to leave school and enter the world at a strange and scary moment in history. So my advice to you is this: appreciate your life — your weird, surprising, beautiful life — as it actually unfolds, and don’t compare it to what you imagined it would be. Your senior year and your graduation don’t look like you expected. As you grow up, you will find that “it doesn’t look like I expected it would” is a sentiment you feel a lot. It’s not always bad. Enjoy the unexpected when you can.
