Virtual Villa Le Balze: Italy’s Cantautori & Their Literary Roots
Join us on a journey into the world of hidden literary references in Italian song lyrics. We will explore songwriters such as Vecchioni, Guccini, Branduardi, De André, De Gregori and Baglioni, who performed the songs to which generations of Italians have grown up. Prof. Francesco Ciabattoni of Georgetown University’s Department of Italian will show us the intricate net of allusions that connect the world of pop music to that of literature, with music samples.
