The Future of EU Democracy: A Discussion with Sophia Russack
Sophia Russack is a Researcher in the Institutions unit at CEPS in Brussels. Her main research interests lie in EU institutional architecture, decision-making processes and institutional reform, with a particular focus on the European Commission. Besides her responsibilities at CEPS, Sophia is currently conducting PhD research at Maastricht University, where she is investigating the ‘political’ Commission under Jean-Claude Juncker in the context of the institutions’ assumed decline.
Sophia will briefly introduce the work of a think tank and the rationale of policy research. She then will speak about EU democracy and some of its key issues. In this context, she will address the conference on the future of Europe: what is aims for, what different stakeholders expect, where pitfalls lay and how the first round of citizens panels went.
This event is supported by the Michael C. Olshausen lecture fund.
