Slavery, Memory, and Reconciliation Campus Walking Tour
Join a walking tour of campus buildings and sites with connections to Georgetown’s history and ongoing work in Slavery, Memory, and Reconciliation. Led by Professor Adam Rothman, Director of the Center for the Study of Slavery and Its Legacies, the walking tour coincides with DC Emancipation Day 2024, commemorating the anniversary of the signing of the 1862 DC Compensated Emancipation Act, the law that abolished slavery in the District of Columbia.
The tour begins at the John Carroll statue (in front of Healy Hall).
Note: Pending weather conditions, the tour may be cancelled or rescheduled to a later date. Notice will be sent in advance in the event of weather impacts.
*** Please register if you plan to attend. The tour capacity will be limited to 25 attendees, and registration will be closed after reaching capacity.
