Mexico, Mexicans, and the United States: Inseparable Challenges Drug Capital and Drugged Consumers: The Other Economy
The event series Mexico, Mexicans, and the United States: Inseparable Challenges will feature conversations on questions key to the 2024 Mexican presidential elections. The second conversion will feature Benjamin Smith, historian, author of The Dope (2022), Peniley Ramírez, investigator-journalist, Futuro Media, author of Los millionarios de la guerra (2021), and Sam Quiñones, journalist, author of Dreamland (2016) and The Least of Us (2022). The conversation will be moderated by John Tutino, director of the Americas Forum, author of The Mexican Heartland (2018), and editor of New World Cities (2019). Each presenter will share information, insights, and perspectives on Mexico’s current challenges regarding illicit drugs, followed by conversations including the audience. The goal is to illuminate fundamental problems and uncertain futures as Mexico faces June presidential elections, followed by the U.S. presidential elections in November.
