Spring Speaker Series: Inside the NIH Center for Alzheimer’s and Related Dementias (CARD): Health Informatics and Opportunities with Mike Nalls
Join Mike Nalls, the Project Director for Advanced Analytics -with NIH’s CARD and NIA’s LNG, to learn more about the NIH Intramural Center for Alzheimer’s and Related Dementias (CARD), their data science opportunities, and groups like the Data Science Expert Group. This group aims to cultivate an open-source / open-science data ecosystem for CARD and the greater research community while helping to build a stronger, more diverse data science community at CARD and the broader NIH. RSVP here.
Dr. Nalls received his BS from George Washington University and his Ph.D. from Temple University. He spent most of his doctoral training as a data analyst at the National Institute on Aging’s Laboratory of Epidemiology, Demography, and Biometry, performing his thesis research on quantitative trait association methods and population genetic structure. He then proceeded to continue his post-doctoral training at the National Institute of Aging’s Laboratory of Neurogenetics, under the supervision of Dr. Andrew Singleton. Dr. Nalls’ current research focuses on aspects of population genetics and inherent genetic aspects of population structure associated with neurodegenerative diseases. He also focuses on methodological research and applied statistics in genetic epidemiological studies.
