Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany
Dr. Grünhage is Minister and Head of Political Affairs at the German Embassy in Washington DC. Prior to coming to Washington DC in August 2019, he worked in Berlin as a Senior Director at the Federal Chancellery on European Affairs (2015- 2019). His previous postings include three years as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Minister of State for EU Affairs in the Federal Foreign Office (2012-2015) and a posting to Paris, France as Political Counsellor in the German Embassy (2010-2012) and as Counsellor on Franco-German relations in the Office of the French Prime Minister (2009-2010). Prior to that, he worked in the Federal Chancellery on European Affairs (2006-2009) and in the Federal Foreign Office on Nuclear Non-Proliferation (2003-2006).
