Georgetown Staff/AAP Symposium: Building Community, Sharing Knowledge
Would you like to learn from the same experienced faculty who prepare our students for long-term career success? Do you want to dive into emerging trends in the workplace? Are you interested in spending time getting to know other staff across Georgetown? Then the Georgetown Staff/AAP Symposium: Building Community, Sharing Knowledge is for you!
The symposium is a new initiative inspired by our sense of cura personalis and supported by the Staff/AAP Council and Office of the Provost to provide Georgetown’s staff with opportunities for professional growth, building community, and space to reflect on ways to move ourselves forward personally and professionally. This is a pilot opportunity for the entire University staff/AAP community, based on a program that colleagues in the McDonough School of Business have recently developed.
The event will be held in-person on Tuesday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Hariri Building. Due to limited space, registration is open via a nomination process. We invite managers to use this form to recommend staff members to participate in this day of enrichment and networking. Staff members can also submit their own form. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline to register for the event is June 5, 2024.
The event will feature:
- A keynote session on creativity and innovation featuring Professor Bob Bies.
- Concurrent breakout sessions on navigating presence from Jeanine Turner and on women’s leadership from Catherine Tinsley.
- A second set of concurrent breakout sessions on exploring artificial intelligence by CNDLS’ Molly Chehak and on managing personal finances by George Comer.
And, of course, time for lunch and networking among peers!
We hope this initiative will provide our staff with professional development related to workplace trends, as well as an opportunity to experience our university in new and exciting ways. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or suggestions.
