“Building Exchanges and Making Change: African Art, Museums, and Technology” with Bennetta Jules-Rosette
Bennetta Jules-Rosette, Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Director of the African and African-American Research Center at the University of California, San Diego, will visit Georgetown University for “Building Exchanges and Making Change: African Art, Museums, and Technology.” Professor Jules-Rosette will discuss her extensive work on African art and culture, with a particular focus on her most recent book African Art Reframed: Reflections and Dialogues on Museum Culture (University of Illinois Press, 2020), which was co-authored by J.R. Osborn (Associate Professor of Communication, Culture, & Technology, Georgetown University). The daughter of Washington DC Mayor Walter E. Washington, Professor Jules-Rosette will also address her father’s legacy and his role in formalizing the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art.
