Georgetown AI Fellows Program

Launched by the President’s Office as part of Georgetown’s broader AI Initiative, the AI Fellows Program pairs faculty members with AI-fluent undergraduate students to work together on a course. Fellows bring a student perspective and hands-on familiarity with emerging AI tools. Faculty bring disciplinary expertise, pedagogical goals and questions about how AI may be changing what and how students learn.

Over a semester, a faculty member and Fellow might:

• Rethink assignments and assessments
• Investigate how AI is changing a particular discipline or profession
• Develop new course materials and learning experiences
• Test emerging tools against actual course tasks
• Gather peer-to-peer feedback from students in the course
• Clarify expectations for appropriate AI use

The aim is not simply to introduce more AI into courses, but to create space for faculty and students to explore where these technologies might strengthen learning, where they may complicate it and how Georgetown might respond thoughtfully.

Applications from faculty and students are due September 28, 2026. Proposals will be reviewed by a faculty committee associated with the Georgetown AI Initiative, with selections announced by October 5.

Full-time faculty across Georgetown are invited to propose a course or courses they would like to explore with the support of a student AI Fellow. Faculty may apply with a particular student in mind or ask to be matched through the program. Each Fellowship carries $2,500 for approximately 130 hours of student work over the fall and spring semesters, administered through the faculty member’s department or school.

Full-time undergraduate are invited to apply to become AI Fellows. We are looking for students who bring experience with AI tools and applications, an interest in teaching and learning and a commitment to the human-centered goals guiding Georgetown’s approach to AI. Fellows are paired with a faculty member and work alongside them over the fall and spring semester, receiving $2,500 for approximately 130 hours of work.
