What’s Your Cannonball Story? Story-Telling in Georgetown’s Ignatian Year
Fr. Ron Anton, S.J., Superior of the Jesuit Community, and Kelly Otter, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Continuing Studies, Co-Chairs of Georgetown’s Ignatian Year Working Group invite you to “What’s Your Cannonball Story? Story-Telling about Practices for Personal and Social Transformation During Georgetown’s Ignatian Year”.
Join us for an opportunity to pause, reflect, listen, and share as we mark the Ignatian Year, the 500th anniversary of St. Ignatius of Loyola undergoing a profound moral and spiritual transformation after being hit by a cannonball in battle. Like Ignatius, we are each on a journey to discover and live out our deeper purpose in life and work. This Ignatian Year invites us to consider our own “cannonball moments” and how we can deepen the bonds of community at Georgetown by sharing our unique stories with one another. With the help of talented storytellers, this event will universally relate the significance of the Ignatian Cannonball story to our diverse community at Georgetown. After hearing from each panelist, attendees will break into small reflection groups and contemplatively discuss how we can spend this Ignatian Year more deeply engaging with the enduring resources of Ignatian spirituality. All students, faculty, and staff are invited to participate. As we continue to return to one another during this academic year, this is an occasion to renew our hearts and minds and see our study and work at Georgetown anew.
