From Medieval to Renaissance
We welcome you to join us for the next Virtual Villa Le Balze event!
A profound transition in the way men and women saw and understood the world took place in Western Europe between roughly 1200 and 1600, a transition from what we now call a medieval view of the world to a Renaissance or early modern one. The new way of seeing the world that evolved during those four hundred years brought with it as well new forms of expression in art, science, philosophy, and literature. This presentation will first explain the nature of the transition and then show how it is reflected in the work of Renaissance artists.
This lecture is presented by Professor Michael Collins, Teaching Professor of English Emeritus and former Executive Director of the Villa Le Balze.
This free event will be hosted on Zoom. Registration is required.
