Asian Development Outlook (ADO) 2021: A Presentation by Yasuyuki Sawada Chief Economist of the Asian Development Bank
The Asian Development Outlook (ADO) analyzes economic and development issues in developing countries in Asia, including GDP growth forecasting of countries throughout the Asia and the Pacific region. For 2021, the ADO special theme chapter is on Financing a Green and Inclusive Recovery, including a discussion of how:
Green and social finance benefits investors, firms, and society;
Green and social finance must be nurtured to ensure that Asia and the Pacific’s recovery is inclusive, resilient, and sustainable; and
Governments should use fiscal measures, legislation, and regulation to promote a green and inclusive recovery.
Prof. Steven Radelet (Director of the GHD Program) will give the welcome remarks, Lesley Bearman Lahm (ADB North American Representative) will provide the opening remarks, and Prof. Shanta Devarajan (Chair, International Development Concentration, MSFS) will serve as Discussant.
About the Main Speaker
Yasuyuki Sawada is the chief spokesperson for ADB on economic and development trends and leads the Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department (ERCD), which publishes ADB’s flagship knowledge products. Previously, Dr. Sawada was professor in the faculty of economics at the University of Tokyo, Japan. He previously worked at the ADB Institute in Tokyo and served as a consultant for various projects at the World Bank Group. Dr. Sawada is a Japanese national. He holds a Doctorate degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in International Development Policy (Food Research Institute) from Stanford University, USA.
