Advocacy Tools for Outsiders
Before Dr. Peter Lurie was the Executive Director and President of the Center for Science in the Public Interest in 2017, he spent eight years at the FDA as the Associate Commissioner for Public Health Strategy and Analysis, and a previous nine years as the Deputy Director of Public Citizen’s Health Research Group. Dr. Lurie will join us to discuss the Freedom of Information Act, the Federal Advisory Committee Act, and the power of petitions, the internet, and research.

This seminar is part of a seminar series for the M.S. Health and the Public Interest (HAPI) program, which is co-directed by Dr. Fugh-Berman and Dr. Adam Myers. The HAPI program aims to train effective public health advocates, and the seminar series, part of a required course, brings students, faculty, and the community together to engage with key leaders in health care research, policy, and advocacy.
