About the Speaker
Dr. Luccioli is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology, Immunology and Allergy of the Department of Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. He received his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine (1995), residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital (1998) and fellowship training in allergy & immunology at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) of the NIH (2001) and currently directs the allergy-immunology education program at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Luccioli also serves as Medical Officer and Allergen Coordinator within the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition of the FDA where he directs scientific policies and research aimed at effectively managing food allergen hazards in regulated food products. He has published more than 100 peer- reviewed papers and abstracts and a major investigative effort of his research and regulatory activities is directed to understanding the epidemiology, causes and thresholds for food-induced allergic reactions and other hypersensitivities.
