Technology, Democracy & The Future of The Internet
The McCourt School of Public Policy invites you to Technology, Democracy & The Future of The Internet: a book talk with Norah O’Donnell (C‘95, G’03), anchor & managing editor, CBS Evening News, and Frank McCourt (C‘75), founder, Project Liberty, and founding donor, McCourt School of Public Policy. This conversation will take place on Monday, March 18, at 12:00 p.m. ET in Riggs Library, with John J. DeGioia, president of Georgetown University, providing the welcome. A reception will follow. Please reserve your seat here.
McCourt, author of OUR BIGGEST FIGHT: Reclaiming Liberty, Humanity, and Dignity in the Digital Age, will discuss the growing civic movement to seize back control of our lives from corporate algorithms to build a safer, healthier, and more equitable internet. He will make the case for why we must act now to embed the core values of a free, democratic society in the internet of tomorrow; and how a “third-generation internet” could replace the status quo with a new model that empowers people over platforms and is marked by digital property rights, agency, and economic opportunity.
