Dear Members of the Georgetown University Community, This morning, we write to express prayers and sympathy for the Brown University community after the tragic events of last night, as well as for the victims of the terrorist attack during a Hanukkah celebration in Sydney, Australia. We are following these events closely and want to share important resources for you. We recognize the deeply distressing nature of these incidents and share in the grief of all mourning the lives lost. If you need additional resources to support your mental well-being, you can find them in our Every Hoya Cares online resource center. If you are in need of spiritual accompaniment, Campus Ministry chaplains and staff are available. We invite all members of the Georgetown community to attend any of our religious services in the days ahead, where special prayers will be offered for the victims of these shootings. Please visit the Campus Ministry website for a schedule of religious services and more information about Campus Ministry resources and programs. GUPD and Capitol Campus DPS remain vigilant to keep us safe. We are taking appropriate actions to support our community, including coordinating with local law enforcement to ensure the safety of the Georgetown campuses. We remind you of important safety resources that can help keep you and our campuses safe:
Please keep friends, colleagues and all who have been affected by these incidents in your prayers. Sincerely, Fr. Mark Bosco, S.J., Ph.D. Josh Bornstein |
