Georgetown Announces Speakers for 2016 Commencement

May 6, 2016Jeh Johnson, United States Secretary of Homeland Security; explorer, storyteller and water conservation advocate Alexandra Cousteau; and USAID Administrator Gayle Smith are among those scheduled to speak at the university’s 2016 Commencement May 19-22.

Georgetown holds individual graduation ceremonies for each undergraduate and professional school as well as award celebrations on campus, beginning with Senior Convocation and the McCourt School of Public Policy commencement ceremony on May 19 and ending with Georgetown Law’s ceremony on May 22.

"We look forward to welcoming a number of distinguished individuals to share their perspectives with our graduates this May," says Georgetown President John J. DeGioia. "These women and men represent the very best of their respective fields, animating our commitment to leadership through service. We look forward to the ways in which their insights and experiences will offer inspiration to our graduates as they embark on their own paths, seeking to make an impact on our world."
