Title: Update on Campus Recreation Reopening at Yates Field House

Dear Members of the Georgetown University Community,

I am writing today to provide an update on the hours of operation for Campus Recreation at Yates Field House and Kehoe Field.

Due to unforeseen health-related staff shortages, we will be adjusting the operating hours of Yates Field House and Kehoe Field for the next several days as noted below. Campus Recreation will reopen as previously announced tomorrow, January 21, but will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, January 22-23, and will be open again beginning next Monday, January 24.

Updated Operating Hours for Yates Field House and Kehoe Field

  • Friday, January 21: 1 – 8 p.m.  (Yates Pool open: 1 – 2:30 p.m., 5:30 – 8 p.m.)
  • Saturday – Sunday, January 22-23: Closed.
  • Monday – Friday, January 24-28: 1 – 8 p.m. (Yates Pool open: 1 – 2:30 p.m., 5:30 – 8 p.m.)
  • Saturday – Sunday, January 29-30: 1 – 8 p.m. (Yates Pool open: 1 – 5 p.m.)

All public health measures will stay in place as previously announced:

  • Capacity: Building capacity will be set at 300 users at a time. Staff members will monitor entrances and exits. Please dress accordingly in case you need to wait in line for access to the facilities.
  • Distancing: Physical distancing will be in effect at all times. Every other fitness machine (e.g., treadmill, elliptical) will be unavailable for use to ensure physical distancing.
  • Masks: Masks are required at all times while in Yates Field House. Individuals should wear a properly-fitting, high-quality mask (e.g., N95, KN95).
  • Programming: Campus Recreation maintains several virtual programming options. There will not be any in-person group fitness classes, intramurals, lessons and other programming offered during this limited operations period. The basketball courts will be closed, and basketball will not be permitted at this time.
  • Membership: The Membership Office will be closed until January 31 or until public health conditions permit. For membership matters, contact campusrecreation@georgetown.edu.
  • Water Fountain Access: Water fountains remain closed, but bottle fillers will be operational.

Campus Recreation intends to resume Fall 2021 operating hours at Yates Field House and Kehoe Field on January 31, subject to public health conditions at that time.

Thank you for your understanding as we balance public health, safety and staffing considerations.

Sincerely,

Jeanne Lord, Ed.D.
Interim Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
