Dear Members of the Georgetown University Community:
I write today to share the news that we have confirmed that a member of the Georgetown community who was studying abroad has been diagnosed with COVID-19. This is the first member of the Georgetown community diagnosed with COVID-19 that we are aware of.
The individual was not on any of Georgetown University’s campuses and is now at their permanent residence receiving care and treatment.
The individual’s program has conducted a contact trace of those who were in close contact with the individual and determined that no members of the Georgetown community required any additional testing or evaluation. Out of an abundance of caution, we are reaching out to all Georgetown participants in that program.
In line with the national trajectory, we anticipate there will be other members of the Georgetown community who are diagnosed with COVID-19 in the days ahead and will update the Georgetown COVID-19 Resources Center with updates as they become available
You can find more information from the CDC here for health and safety precautions for those in contact with individuals diagnosed with COVID-19.
Sincerely,
Vince WinklerPrins, MD, FAAFP
