Title: Inauguration Campus Impacts: GUTS Changes, Parking and More

Dear Members of the Georgetown University Community,

As the university community looks forward to President Peñalver’s Inauguration on Oct. 9, please note the impacts below on campus operations.

On-Campus Parking

Community members are encouraged to plan for extra travel time in their commute as the university welcomes thousands of faculty, staff, students and guests to the Hilltop. For those coming to campus, please consider utilizing GUTS or public transportation instead of parking on or near campus. Visit OTM’s website for more information on additional ways to travel to and from our campuses.

Valet parking will be in effect in the Southwest Quad Garage. It is anticipated that after 8 a.m., garages on campus will be full. Parkers who arrive once on-campus garages are full will be directed to the 3300 Whitehaven St. parking garage, operated by the Office of Transportation Management. From there, community members can take the Wisconsin Ave. GUTS Shuttle to campus.

GUTS Shuttle Service Updates

In order to accommodate increased visitors, faculty, staff and students commuting to campus, the Wisconsin Ave. Shuttle and Rosslyn Shuttle will operate on a more frequent service schedule throughout the day.

Starting at noon, the McDonough Bus Turnaround will be closed until 6 p.m. All routes will depart from Lombardi during this time. Check BusWhere for the latest shuttle information.

Hilltop Campus Roads

At this time, there are no road closures planned for Oct. 9. Traffic controllers will be in place in high-volume areas to direct traffic.

Vendor/Contractor Work and Scheduled Deliveries

Due to the volume of guests and vehicles on campus during Inauguration, large trucks and vans looking to enter campus on Friday, Oct. 9, for deliveries or scheduled work will have difficulty navigating the roads. Teams are asked to reschedule deliveries when possible.

Thank you, and we look forward to celebrating this momentous occasion with the Georgetown community!

Sincerely,

Lisa M. Belokur
Vice President, Planning and Facilities Management
