Title: Hilltop Campus Construction Updates

Dear Members of the Georgetown University Community,

We are reaching out to inform you of several updates related to ongoing construction projects on the Hilltop Campus. Please visit the Active Construction site for updates on Hilltop and Capitol Campus construction projects.

Leavey East Bridge Structural and Waterproofing Project

Please be advised that the Leavey Center East Bridge, as well as Tondorf Road and the pedestrian walkway underneath the bridge, are now temporarily reopened. We anticipate an additional closure will occur over the winter break. Advanced notice will be provided.

Hoya Hotel Renovation and Modernization Project

Construction on the Hoya Hotel in the Leavey Center has begun. Ongoing updates can be found on the project landing page. Foot traffic is being redirected from the hotel lobby (Lombardi Circle entrance) while it is closed.

Leavey Elevator 9 & 10 Modernization

A modernization project of Leavey elevator 9 and elevator 10 will begin on Monday, Dec. 1. We will be taking one elevator offline at a time to modernize it and will leave the other operational. We anticipate having one elevator back in service by Feb. 20, 2026, and will follow with the other elevator by May 15, 2026.

Healy Lawn Utilities Project

Expanded Phase 3 and Phase 4 of the project can be found below. Dates are subject to change as the project progresses. Please visit the project landing page for more information.

Phase 3: Expanded

Phase 3 Expanded Map

  • Zone A: Copley Lawn Staging Area (December 2025-June 2026)
    • During this time, a small portion of fencing on Copley Lawn will be limited to storing materials and equipment.
  • Zone B: Old North Way (Summer 2025-Winter 2026)
    • Construction fencing is in place on Old North Way between Healy Hall and Copley Hall, with a pedestrian pathway through Old North Way.
    • Fencing also extends between Copley Hall and the Davis Performing Arts Center. A pedestrian path with ADA access to the Copley Crypt is in place.
  • Zone C: Healy Lawn (December 2025-Spring 2026)
    • This zone will take up much of Healy Lawn. During this time, the pedestrian path will be modified along Healy Hall, with ADA access provided.
    • Beginning on Tuesday, Nov. 18, for approximately two weeks, fencing will be in place around the accessible ramp outside of Healy Hall (at the entrance to Healy G). This two-week period will allow for a temporary ramp to be installed in support of Zone C fencing. While the ramp is offline, community members can enter Healy G from the corner of Healy Hall by Lauinger Library. Signage will be in place to reroute pedestrians during this time.
  • Zone D: Healy Circle (December 2025-April 2026)
    • This zone will surround the John Carroll statue, taking up much of the south side of Healy Circle.

Phase 4: East Campus Work

Phase 4 East Campus Work Map

    • Zone A: 37th and O St. (Concluding early December)
      • The current construction at 37th St. from O St. to Prospect St. will end in early December. 37th St. will remain one-way southbound between O St. and Prospect St. after construction concludes, in support of the Zone B work. Parking will be restricted on 37th St. while vehicle traffic is one-way southbound.
    • Zone B: N St. (early December 2025 to Spring 2026)
      • Immediately following the conclusion of the work at 37th between N and O Sts., work will begin on N St. between 37th and 36th. One lane will be open on N St. during this time to westbound vehicular traffic. Pedestrian access will be maintained on the north side of N St. Parking will be restricted on N St. and 37th St. while construction proceeds.
  • Zone C: Georgetown Property (October 2025 to Spring 2026)
      • Utility installations in the off-street space between N St., 36th, and Prospect St. are underway and will continue through spring 2026. Impacted areas include the 9/11 Memorial garden, Wisemiller’s parking lot and the alley behind the Tombs restaurant.
  • Zone D: 36th Street (January 2026 or sooner to Spring 2026)
      • Utility installations on 36th St. between N St. and Prospect will start with trenching the west side of 36th St., followed by the east side. During this work, the vehicle traffic pattern will be a single southbound lane. Parking will be restricted on 36th St. while construction proceeds.
  • Zone E: Walsh/LXR Courtyard (September 2025 to Winter 2026)
    • Construction activity in the Walsh/LXR courtyard is underway and will continue through spring 2026.

Occupants of townhouses and other impacted buildings will be notified of any noisy work that can be expected near them. Dates are subject to change as the project progresses.
