As Washington, DC is enveloped in picture-perfect auburn leaves and cool autumn air, the Hilltop and surrounding area are buzzing with exciting activities to try. Whether you’re interested in exploring new, autumn centered treats or amusing activities, Georgetown is replete with options this fall season. Here are the top things to do during the fall in Georgetown.

Homecoming

Perhaps what’s most synonymous with fall activities at Georgetown is Homecoming. Each year, alumni and students gather on the Hilltop to cheer on their fellow Hoyas in the annual homecoming football game. This is the perfect time to meet new students, celebrate with friends, and meet new, fascinating alumni. More than anything, Homecoming is the perfect time to whip out your blue and gray apparel and show your school pride.

Taste of Georgetown

Get ready to gather your friends and bring your appetite: Taste of Georgetown is one of the highlights of fall in Georgetown. This epicurean festival is comprised of over 30 different local restaurants and serves as a great spot to hang out with friends, try new foods, and explore the city. Furthermore, all proceeds go to aiding the homeless through the Georgetown Ministry Center.

Baked and Wired

If you’re a Georgetown local, you know the best place to get a cupcake is Baked and Wired. While the bakery offers a wide variety of delicious cupcakes, nothing says fall like their Dirty Chai or Pumpkin Spice cupcakes. Yum!

Trick-or-Treating at the Embassies

One of the best aspects of Georgetown is that it lies at the center of global political life. There’s always a diplomat visiting campus or an embassy to visit. During Halloween, many of these embassies even open up for trick-or-treating for students. So, grab a bag and get ready to fill your night with candies from all over the world.

Wander M Street

Sometimes the best activities have no concrete plan to them; in fact, some of the best memories have been simply wandering M St. Not only is this a great way to escape campus for the afternoon, but it’s a great way to explore the awesome sights and shops Georgetown offers. Hungry? Stop by and grab at burger at Good Stuff Eatery. Need some decor for your dorm room? Pick out a new lamp at T.J. Maxx — there’s always something fun to do.
