Title: Henle Village Demolition Next Week and Accessible Pathways

Dear Members of the Georgetown University Community,

The construction site safety fencing for the Henle Village project is now in place, and demolition is planned to begin next week.

As previously communicated, the university is working closely with the construction contractor to mitigate the impacts of this significant project, though community members should expect some noise disruptions and construction traffic during this phase of work.

Accessible Pathways and Darnall/St. Mary’s Access

Due to the construction safety zone required for Henle Village construction and the simultaneous conclusion of MedStar Georgetown University Hospital’s construction work, there will be some disruptions to existing pathways near Henle Village, Darnall Hall and St. Mary’s during the first stage of work.

  • Signage is in place around the construction zone directing pedestrians to both ADA-accessible and non-ADA pathways to get from Darnall/St. Mary’s to the rest of campus and vice versa. The new “accessible pathways” layer of the Georgetown University interactive campus map shows ADA-accessible pathways, elevators and entrances, and also includes a “wayfinding” function for planning navigation between different campus spaces.
  • All residence halls, academic, student services and food-service locations will remain open and fully-accessible throughout construction, including those located in Darnall Hall (e.g. the Student Health Center, Counseling & Psychiatric Services (CAPS) and Epicurean).
