The Capitol Campus Department of Public Safety (CCDPS) and the Georgetown University Police Department (GUPD) will merge into a single, unified unit on Feb. 2. The GUPD name will apply to the police departments on both our Capitol and Hilltop campuses. The concept for this new organization was developed to ensure the next version of policing at Georgetown reflects the best of both organizations. We have a shared goal: to strengthen collaboration, transparency and service excellence across Georgetown’s public safety enterprise.
- The current Capitol Campus Department of Public Safety website will redirect to police.georgetown.edu. The email address CAP-DPS@georgetown.edu will redirect to police@georgetown.edu.
- Phone numbers remain the same. In case of emergency, community members can continue to call GUPD at 202-687-4343 on the Hilltop Campus or 202-662-9325 on the Capitol Campus.
- There will be no change to on-campus office locations for officers and security personnel on the Hilltop and Capitol Campuses:
- Capitol Campus: 600 New Jersey Ave. NW, Office 102
- Hilltop Campus: Ground level of Village C (West Wing)
