Dear Hoyas,
We are excited to announce the line-up of community activities for Georgetown Day 2026 on April 24. Get ready to experience Jack to the Future (this will all make sense at Movie Night)!
Georgetown Day began in 2000 as a response to the tragic death of a student involving drinking. It was envisioned as a day to bring the Georgetown community together to celebrate our values, express gratitude for the year and have fun as an inclusive Georgetown community.
Over the course of the last few months, I’ve appreciated the partnership and feedback provided by GUSA, GERMS and GPB. Together, we are eager to present a joyful day with live music, great food and community. True community forms from caring for one another, not binge drinking or compelling others to consume. This year, we are committed to joy and safety here on our campus. I hope you see that balanced commitment in all that we do.
Residential rules for townhouses remain the same and can be reviewed below. Georgetown Day is an event only for Georgetown students and community. Members of the university community should be prepared to present a university GOCard upon request from a university official. Please take a moment to carefully review the below details on residential access, events and relevant policies.
Let’s choose to celebrate Georgetown Day in the spirit with which it was first created: to build community, relax in the moments before finals and truly care for one another. Healy Lawn and green spaces will be alive with activity and music, our residence halls will welcome celebration among their residents and comfort food will abound.
Together, we can celebrate a Georgetown Day that everyone in our community can enjoy and be proud of.
Hoya Saxa,
Eleanor JB Daugherty, Ed.D.

Key Policies & Reminders
General Reminders
- April 24 is a Class Day: Faculty expect full participation in scheduled classes. If you are enrolled in a class scheduled to meet, you should attend class, unless your professor has made other arrangements.
- Treating Staff and Others with Respect: Students approached by staff or other university employees must 1) follow their directives, and 2) treat all community members with respect, courtesy and dignity. Students who do not adhere to university policy may be referred to the community standards process.
- Excessive Noise Is Prohibited: The Code of Student Conduct prohibits excessive noise in on- and off-campus living communities. Students who are found responsible for violating the Code of Student Conduct will be subject to disciplinary sanctions.
- No Glass Bottles: Please do not purchase any beverages in glass bottles, as they can be dangerous when discarded or broken. Glass bottles may be confiscated.
- You Are Responsible for the Actions of Your Guests; Guest Restrictions in Residences: Georgetown Day is an event solely for the Georgetown community. Students should be prepared to produce their ID when asked by a Georgetown employee. If an individual at your residence or property causes harm to another person or property, or otherwise violates the Code of Student Conduct, you may be held responsible, whether or not you invited the guest. Access will be restricted to residents on April 24 through GOCard usage.
- Kegs: Kegs are permitted only within university-owned townhouses and apartments (Alumni Square, Nevils, Village A, Byrnes, Hayden, Henle and Ryan Hawkins) where at least one resident is of legal drinking age. Kegs are prohibited in all other university-owned housing, and any unauthorized kegs will be confiscated and not returned. Kegs are not permitted on Village A rooftops or in the exterior areas of Alumni Square.
- Open containers of alcohol are prohibited in public spaces on and off campus, including any indoor and/or outdoor community areas of the residence halls and apartment complexes: If you are in possession of an open container of alcohol, you will be asked to dispose of the container by a university official. Non-compliance with a university official’s directives may be referred to the community standards process.
- Carry Your GOCard: Members of the university community should be prepared to present a University GOCard upon request from a university official. Failure to comply is outlined under Prohibited Conduct in the Code of Student Conduct.
- Construction Safety: Members of the university community are prohibited from entering construction areas, moving barriers or interfering with construction equipment and scaffolding. Failure to comply with security requirements, including facilities operations, is outlined under Prohibited Conduct in the Code of Student Conduct.
On-Campus Events and Residence Halls
- Limited Residence Hall Access: On Friday, April 24, GOCard access to all residence halls will be limited to the buildings’ residents to ensure the safety of our community. More information on access to Village A for non-residents can be found below.
- Limited Access to Village A Rooftops and Alumni Square: To ensure fire safety at all times, there will be designated security staff monitoring entry and exit points to Village A, the rooftop and Alumni Square based on capacity limitations, coordinated by GUPD and Residential Living.
- Village A Wristbands: Village A will only be accessible to Village A residents (and their guests). There will be wristbands required for residents and guests on Georgetown Day. Residents will be contacted directly by their community director about acquiring wristbands.
- Tents: No tents are allowed on Village A rooftops or in Alumni Square.
- Party Host Training: If you plan to host a gathering, you need to complete and review Residential Living’s Party Host Training.
Off-Campus Events and Neighborhood Safety
- Off-Campus Noise Policy: According to the Code of Student Conduct, excessive sound is prohibited at all hours of the day, including in off-campus living communities. Students who are found responsible for violating the Code of Student Conduct will be subject to disciplinary sanctions.
- Open Container Law: It is not legal to consume or possess an alcoholic beverage in an open container in a public area anywhere in the District of Columbia. Do not bring any open containers out in the street or neighborhood.
