Georgetown University is pleased to offer benefits-eligible faculty and staff working 30 or more hours per week the opportunity to enroll in Chubb Life Insurance with Long-Term Care (Life + LTC) benefits. Open Enrollment for this benefit is Feb. 17 through Mar. 17, 2026.
Georgetown partners with Long Term Care Solutions, Inc. (LTCSI) and Chubb Insurance to offer this voluntary benefit, which combines life insurance protection with built-in long-term care benefits to help you and your family plan for the cost of care. Eligible employees can enroll on the LTCSI portal for Georgetown University by selecting Apply Now.
What does the Chubb Life + LTC benefit include?
Chubb’s Life + LTC policy provides a dual benefit:
• A life insurance death benefit, and
• Living benefits that can be used for eligible long-term care expenses, including assistance with daily activities such as eating, bathing, dressing, and transferring.
Why consider Long-Term Care coverage?
While long-term care is often associated with aging, it may also be needed following a serious accident, illness, stroke, or cognitive impairment. In fact, 44% of individuals receiving long-term care are under age 65. Traditional health insurance and Medicare generally do not cover extended long-term care needs, and the average cost of a private nursing home room is over $111,000 per year, with an average stay of three years.
Who can enroll — and what underwriting applies?
- Employees hired between Feb. 11, 2025 and Feb. 15, 2026 may be eligible to apply for coverage with Guarantee Issue (based on age), with no medical questions, up to specified plan limits.
- All other eligible employees, including those increasing coverage or enrolling for the first time outside the Guarantee Issue window, may apply during Open Enrollment with simplified underwriting, which includes answering a limited number of medical questions.
Spouse coverage is also available for those who enroll in employee coverage.
