Title: Cooper Field/Utilities Work Update and Impacts

Dear Members of the Georgetown University Community,

Welcome back to campus for the spring semester! We would like to provide you with an update on the Cooper Field turf replacement and utilities modernization project. We thank you for your continued patience as we undertake this important work for our athletics program and campus sustainability.

  • Final Stage of Construction: The final stage of work will take place from tomorrow, January 12, through mid February at the intersection of Tondorf Road and North Road and will once again involve construction work from 7 a.m.-11 p.m. with expected noise from trucks, construction vehicles and steam pipe removal/replacement. There will be noise monitoring and reduction efforts in place, but loud construction work is to be expected.
  • Vehicular and Pedestrian Traffic Impacts on Tondorf Road: Tondorf Road will be reduced to a single lane of vehicular traffic at the intersection with North Road, managed by flaggers, from January 12 to mid-February. There will be a single sidewalk section kept open on the west or east side of Tondorf Road depending on the project stage.
