Dear Members of the Georgetown University Community,
Georgetown will host President Eduardo M. Peñalver’s inauguration on Friday, Oct. 9, at 3 p.m. in McDonough Arena, with livestream viewing options available on the Hilltop and Capitol campuses, and online. More information about the weekend’s events can be found on the Inauguration website.
To ensure that the community can participate in, attend or watch the event, all undergraduate and graduate classes (with limited exceptions, a number of which are outlined below) taking place in Washington, DC beginning after noon (12 p.m.) on Friday, Oct. 9, are canceled.
Faculty with affected sessions may implement an asynchronous learning option and may consult with the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship for guidance and support. Students with questions about their course’s instructional continuity plan or asynchronous assignments should consult directly with their instructor. All other university operations will continue as normal.
Certain programs will continue courses as planned on the afternoon of Oct. 9:
- Due to the structure and requirements of certain academic and clinical programs, doctoral students in the School of Health and the Berkley School of Nursing will continue their regularly scheduled academic activities. School of Medicine students (MD and Biomedical Graduate Education) participating in clinical rotations, other clinical experiences (including scheduled OSCEs) or required laboratory activities should also follow their established schedules.
- Executive MBA courses and MBA courses with previously scheduled exams on Oct. 9 will plan to meet as scheduled, at the discretion of the course’s faculty member.
- Faculty members with exceptional circumstances should appeal to their respective dean or to the provost for exceptions and clarifications, and communicate expectations to their class(es).
- Georgetown University Law Center faculty with classes at this time will receive a message from Dean Magill regarding their academic operations.
