Title: Announcing the New Vice President for Government Relations and Community Engagement

Dear Colleagues,

I have the pleasure of announcing Adrea Turner as Georgetown’s Vice President for Government Relations and Community Engagement (GRACE). She will begin at Georgetown on January 5, 2026.

Currently the Chief of Staff in the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) here in Washington, she joins our community with two decades of experience working in the government and nonprofit sectors. At DMPED, she led work focused on economic, business, and real estate development in the District of Columbia and has contributed to the implementation of major city projects such as the redevelopment of Capital One Arena and RFK Stadium.

She has served in leadership roles at the Department of Transportation for Baltimore City, for the state of Maryland, and for the District; at the Maryland Governor’s Office; and at the Urban Institute and at The Pew Charitable Trusts. Across these roles and others, she has demonstrated a keen ability to engage the community, forge public-private partnerships, and bridge government agencies and the public.

At Georgetown, Adrea and the colleagues in GRACE are responsible for coordinating the University’s engagement with the federal government, with the city of Washington and with other governmental bodies across the region. They are charged with supporting the University’s relationships with local community leaders, city residents and other strategic partners, and with facilitating opportunities that advance the Hilltop Campus and the continued development of the new Capitol Campus.

We look forward to the contributions that Adrea will make to our University community and to our work as an anchor institution in Washington, DC.

Please join me in welcoming Adrea to Georgetown.

Sincerely,

Joseph A. Ferrara
Senior Vice President for Strategic Engagement and Senior Advisor to the President
