May 9, 2013 – A head of state – the President of the Republic of Lithuania – is among those scheduled to speak at the university’s 2013 Commencement May 16-19.

Georgetown holds individual graduation ceremonies for each undergraduate and professional school as well as award celebrations on campus, beginning with Senior Convocation on May 16.

A number of the speakers are also scheduled to receive honorary degrees.

“Our commencement speakers this year are extraordinary individuals, representing the highest levels of excellence in a diverse array of fields – from public service to public health, education, economics and humanitarian endeavors,” says Georgetown President John J. DeGioia. “By sharing their experience and wisdom, they offer inspiration to our students, who are themselves, at this moment in their lives, envisioning the impact they can make in our world.”

Students, family, faculty and friends can follow commencement activities online, including live webcasts, and find information about how to share memories, pictures and words of wisdom with the class of 2013 at georgetown.edu/hoyas2013.
