Of the 8,242 COVID tests conducted for members of the Georgetown community last week, 71 individuals tested positive (a 0.86% positivity rate). Our best-in-class testing protocols have ensured robust, regular testing for members of our community with quick turnaround times that ensure swift isolation of individuals testing positive.
In response to the increased number of student cases in late January on, or near, the Main and Medical Campuses, Georgetown enacted a number of measures to limit further exposure and transmission including pausing hybrid-mode classes and on-campus activities (including in-person office-based research, religious and recreational activities), and reminding our students to avoid indoor social gatherings. Undergraduate hybrid classes remain paused through March 8, and graduate hybrid classes will continue in hybrid mode. You can find all communications to members of our community here. We are working closely with epidemiologists from the DC Department of Health to understand what drove this increase and to take all necessary steps to curb transmission.
