Dear Members of the Georgetown University Community,
Earlier today, Mayor Bowser announced that as of Monday, November 22, the DC government will no longer require masks to be worn indoors in certain settings. Individuals, regardless of vaccination status, must still wear masks indoors in many circumstances, including in schools, libraries and congregate facilities (e.g., student residential buildings), while using public transportation, and when required by a private organization or business.
Georgetown’s indoor mask requirement will remain in effect at least through the end of the Fall 2021 semester. Individuals, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a mask indoors in University-owned or -operated buildings, except when eating or drinking, when alone in a private office, or when in their personal residence.
We are working with Dr. Ranit Mishori, our Chief Public Health Officer, and our Public Health team to assess the University’s mask policy for the Spring semester, which will be informed by public health conditions and our ongoing commitment to the health and safety of the Georgetown community.
We will continue to keep you informed of any updates. Thank you all again for your efforts to keep our campuses a safe environment for everyone.
Sincerely,
David B. Green, Interim Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Robert M. Groves, Provost
Edward B. Healton, Executive Vice President for Health Sciences
William M. Treanor, Executive Vice President and Dean of the Law Center
