Title: 2021–2022 Housing Requirement and Residential Improvements

Dear Students,

Our living and learning residential campus animates the values and mission of the Georgetown undergraduate experience, and we are excited to welcome all of our undergraduate Hoyas back on the Hilltop this fall.

As you are making your plans for fall housing, please remember Georgetown University requires all undergraduate students who are regularly admitted and in full-time attendance at the University to live on campus during their first-year, sophomore and junior years. All students enrolled during the 2020–2021 academic year have been granted one year toward the three-year live-on requirement, regardless of where you are living this year.

We will resume the regular live-on requirement during the 2021–2022 academic year. As a reminder, sophomore transfers are required to live on campus two years, while junior transfer students are required to live on campus for their junior year. For information about residency exemption requests or the Junior Swap option, please refer to the Housing Handbook.

We are pleased to announce a number of improvements to our residential environment. Along with an extensive renovation of Village C East and Village C West, Georgetown has considerably expanded the number of carpet-free rooms, provided additional outdoor furniture, refurbished Village A to include new kitchens and flooring, updated common kitchens and lounges in several locations, expanded student space for studying and gathering, added bottle-filling stations, provided new mattresses in most residential buildings and purchased new furniture for Henle Village.

We invite you to watch this brief video that highlights recent residential and campus improvements. We want to thank the teams in Planning and Facilities Management, Auxiliary Business Services and the Office of Residential Living for making these improvements possible.

Sincerely,

Todd A. Olson, Ph.D.
