Nov. 4, 2016 – Georgetown will celebrate the contributions of service members throughout November to highlight and raise awareness around the military community on campus.
Georgetown's Military Awareness Month includes a Veterans Day celebration that will feature Daniel Feehan, principal deputy assistant secretary of defense on Nov. 10, 3-5 p.m. on White Gravenor Lawn.
“The university has a deep connection to the military with the founder of the Jesuits, St. Ignatius of Loyola, being a wounded warrior," says LeNaya Hezel, director of the university’s veterans office. "The school colors, blue and gray, are tied to the very uniforms worn during the Civil War, and our location in the nation’s capital makes us neighbors to numerous military installations.”
“Georgetown’s commitment to shaping a campus environment around the care and education of the whole person and being men and women for others gives purpose to the responsibility of honoring and supporting our military community on campus,” she adds.
