Virtual Villa Le Balze: The Women of the Medici Family
Join us on International Women’s Day for this lecture on some of the most famous and powerful women of the house of the Medici (1368-1743), who contributed to the building of Florence and the Tuscan State.
Villa Le Balze’s own Prof. Elena Brizio will introduce us to these historic women, starting with Contessina de’ Bardi (1390-1473), wife of Cosimo de’ Medici “the Elder”, and ending with Anna Maria Luisa de’ Medici (1667-1743), who set the future of Florence through the 1737 ‘family pact’. You’ll get a glimpse into the lives of these iconic Medici women, and their influence over the Medici men and children.
This free event will be hosted on Zoom. Registration is required.
Accommodation requests related to a disability should be indicated in your registration. A good-faith effort will be made to fulfill requests.
All events in the series are in support of Villa Le Balze. Giving to the Villa Le Balze legacy will make a lasting impact on the lives of students, faculty, alumni, and many others who use the Villa as a space for transformative educational and scholarly activities.
