Venezuelan Crisis: Assessment and Possible solutions
Venezuela is undergoing a humanitarian, political, economic, social, and human rights crisis. More than 6.8 million Venezuelans are refugees and migrants. Widespread violence, economic turmoil, political instability, human rights violations, food shortages, lack of medicines, and a collapse of the educational system are pushing Venezuelans out of their country.
We invite you to join us to understand the origins of the current crisis and explore possible solutions with our panel of experts:
- James Story, U.S. Ambassador to Venezuela;
- Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the Organization of American States;
- Carlos Vecchio, Venezuela Ambassador to the U.S.; and
- Dr. Fabiana Perera, Professor at the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies.
Each panelist will have 5 minutes to present their assessments. A moderator will then guide a half-hour conversation among the panelists on different aspects of the crisis. This will be followed by a half-hour question and answers session with students. This event is not open to media and the RSVPs are on a first come, first serve basis.
