The Role of Business in the Racial Equity and Justice Movement
Tuesday, September 28
5:30 – 6:30 p.m. ET
Black Lives Matter has sparked the longest sustained wave of social protest in recent U.S. history. The movement for Black lives is not only changing the way communities of color are policed; it is fundamentally altering the way people in America think about equity and justice in this moment of racial reckoning. Business for Impact’s mission is to unleash the power of companies to help people and the planet thrive, and we know from our research that business plays an important role in social movements, including to help advance the movement for Black lives and racial justice. Companies are often vectors for social and environmental change, just as they can be targets of activist ire. Business can do more than pledge solidarity to the Black Lives Matter cause – but what does that look like and is it effective?
