Pauliina Pataana, the incoming Professor of Political Economy at CGES and will join us in Fall 2022. Currently she is a Democracy Postdoctoral Fellow at the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation. Her research focuses on political behaviour, political economy and party politics, primarily in Western democracies.
This lecture will focus on how race, ethnicity, and racism shape – and are shaped by – politics and policymaking across European democracies. How do countries’ citizenship regimes or types of welfare state affect experiences with racism and the ways in which race and ethnicity are construed? How do race, ethnicity, and racism influence party competition today?
