Tanous Family Lecture with José Andrés
This year’s Georgetown University Annual Tanous Family Endowed Lecture will feature José Andrés in conversation with Robert M. Groves, Georgetown University Provost.
Twice named one of Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” and awarded “Outstanding Chef” and “Humanitarian of the Year” by the James Beard Foundation, José Andrés is an internationally recognized humanitarian, culinary innovator, New York Times bestselling author, educator, Emmy-winning television personality, and owner of the award-winning José Andrés Group, which operates nearly 40 restaurants in the US and beyond.
In 2010, Andrés founded World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit organization that is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises.
The event is open to current Georgetown University students, faculty and staff. A valid GU ID is required for entry. Admission is free and on a first-come, first serve basis. Ticket distribution takes place on the second floor of Healy Hall. Enter through the South Tower of Healy Hall to join the line. Bags will be inspected. No food or drink is allowed in Gaston Hall. No food is allowed.
- All food must be discarded in trash cans. This includes food in sealed packages and containers.
- Water, in clear containers only, is allowed.
- Other beverages are prohibited.
- Personal beverage containers (e.g., Thermos, Stanley, Owala) must be set aside in the foyer to be refreshed when departing the event.
- GUPD is not responsible for the containers.
The Tanous Family Lecture was endowed in 2010 by Peter J. Tanous, a Georgetown alumnus, to honor the 40th anniversary of Lauinger Library, and it offers a meaningful opportunity each year for our Georgetown students, faculty, and staff to hear from a distinguished leader.
