This webinar series, hosted by State Department FSO Salvatore Amodeo (MSFS ’97), will feature bi-monthly hour long discussions of a featured guest’s successful career path. Highlighted will be how their education and experience led them to their career, what factors helped them succeed, and how they overcame challenges faced on their career path.
This week, Sal features Elissa McCarter-LaBorde (MSFS ’98), Chief Executive Officer of Vitas Group, a commercial holding company founded by Global Communities that owns and operates high growth microfinance subsidiaries predominantly in the Middle East. In addition to her role as CEO of Vitas Group, Elissa is Vice-President of Development Finance at Global Communities, where she leads a team of technical professionals who manage Global Communities’ activities in micro, small and medium enterprise and housing finance. Prior to joining Global Communities, Elissa spent seven years in the field as a manager for Catholic Relief Services. She started and managed two microfinance institutions in Armenia and Turkey, and has served as a trainer and advisor to more than a dozen financial institutions in Africa, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe.
