Grown Women Talking: Lessons on Women’s Health Through Community
In partnership with the MLK Jr. Memorial Library, the Georgetown-Howard Center for Medical Humanities and Health Justice hosts “Grown Women Talking: Lessons on Women’s Health Through Community” with speakers Dr. Sharon Malone and Jonquilyn Hill.
This event discusses women’s health and the lore that influences personal health decisions. Using Sharon Malone’s book, “Grown Woman Talk: Your Guide to Getting and Staying Healthy,” this conversation explores the role of patient and caregiver narratives in navigating our right to quality health care.
A limited number of Dr. Malone’s book will be provided at the event to those who are unable to purchase one. A photo opportunity with Dr. Malone after the event will also be available.
MHHJ will also host a community organization fair prior to the speaking engagement (5:00 – 7:00 p.m.) featuring women’s health organizations that serve the greater Washington region. Attendees will have an opportunity to receive health screenings, referrals and education, as well as engage with local women’s health advocacy groups. Organizations interested in tabling during the community fair can email jonathan.flores@georgetown.edu.
